§1. Cupronickel, Monel, and seawater piping [00:02]

§1.p1

The nickel actually adds some resistance to the corrosion process itself. If you go all the way out to 30 copper, 70 nickel, you're in the Monel area. A lot of your seawater piping on nuclear submarines and so on is Monel. Not on the surface ships so much, but probably on an aircraft carrier when you have nuclear piping. And that's because of the erosive conditions and losing the oxide skin.

§1.p2

That's probably enough for right now. Tomorrow we'll do welding, and right now we're going to have to move.

...boys, and the nickel actually adds some resistance to the corrosion process itself. And if you go all the way out to 30 copper 70 nickel, you're in the Monel area, okay.
